ABOUT THE RACE

Is this a relay?

Nope. Whether you are competing as an individual or in a team, each person participating must run the full mud run.

Is it a hard course?

We prefer the term challenging, as opposed to hard. The obstacles won't be easy and some are inherently dangerous—so be careful and don't try and do anything beyond your skill level. If you are questioning your physical/mental capabilities or have a medical condition please consult with your physician before signing up for the race. You are responsible for avoiding an obstacle if you feel you are unable to complete the course or obstacles. Mud is fun but only when its safe!

Is this race timed?

If you are looking to beat a world record or run so hard that you nearly lose bowel control then you might be disappointed. The 5K Foam Fest is not a hardcore race it is a FUNCORE race. The goal is to have fun while running. We will have a race clock at the end of the race so you can internally take note how fast you ran the race but you will not be given timing chips and we encourage you to focus on the fun aspect of the race rather than the speed.

What kind of obstacles are there?

The obstacles will vary depending on the course. You better plan on the foam, mud and water being a part of the course. We try and have between 15-30 obstacles per course. Click on the obstacle tab to see what type of obstacles we have.

What if I am too scared to do an obstacle?

Well then we throw mud all over you then rinse you off with foam… Just kidding. We have staff and volunteers scattered throughout the mud run course who are ready to leap into action and help you through the obstacle, but if you feel you shouldn't do an obstacle for any reason, our staff will help you around it.

What if I can't swim?

Some of our obstacles will be in or around water. Most of the time the water is shallow; however, if you cannot swim or are uncomfortable doing an obstacle that involves water than you MUST skip that obstacle. So be sure you practice your doggy paddle before the race just in case.

What the Foam?

The foam is air mixed with less than 1% of foam solution. Though the foam should not cause irritation, we encourage participants to NOT leave the foam on their body for an extended period of time—yes, we are pro showers. We recommend that you do not inhale, ingest or get the foam in your eyes. So HOLD YOUR BREATH going through slip'n slides!!!!!

Are there mile markers?

At some locations the water stations will serve as mile markers—so the first water station marks mile one, the second marks mile 2, and then you finish and get to enjoy our feed station. Otherwise the course will have signs marking each muddy mile.

Can I volunteer?

At this time we do not have spots for volunteers.

Can someone else pick up my race Bib?

Yes, as long as you bring a copy of the waiver signed by the person. You cannot pick up a wristband (for the free Mike's Hard Lemonade) for your friends who do not come to bib pickup. They can get the wristband at the "Beer Wristband" tent on race day. This is to ensure only those of age receive the alcoholic beverage.

Why haven't I heard anything about bib pick up?

Bib pick-up is only offered in some locations. Be sure to check the details tab on your location page to see if it's offered. If you have more questions regarding bib pick-up please email us at yourock@roundhouseracing.com

How should I train for the run?

You train and build your endurance up like you would for pretty much any 5k run, except for ours you will need to start with looking in the mirror and saying “Hey there you sexy mud runner. You're looking good.” It may help if you practice getting sprayed with a garden hose, and rolling around in the mud and then running through the car wash so you're prepared for the muddy - foamy factor. If you choose to roll around in sand, do realize those are NOT tootsie-rolls and be careful.

What charities do you give to?

We work with multiple charities. Be sure to check your location to see what charities we are supporting in your area.

RACE DAY

Where do I park?

Don't worry, you won't get lost because we'll have signs and parking attendants to assist you. Please park in designated areas. We are not responsible for towed, lost, damaged, or ticketed vehicles. There may be a parking fee, so check out the details on your race's Location page. If there is a parking fee it is determined by the venue and is not associated with us. Parking is only fun if you do it in style and with a group. So carpool if you can. Park your fashion-wagon and from there make your grand entrance over at our Registration tent, and be sure to check out the foam and mud along the way.

What do I need to bring?

First off bring your friends and family—or anyone else who needs proof of your skills. Don't forget your mud money! Also, you should probably bring some extra clothes. Since it is a mud run you will get muddy, the foam will clean you or make you even more dirty depending on how you look at it. If you forget your game face, then you're FOL (Foam out of luck).

What's not allowed?

Keep your pets, outside food, weapons, illegal substances etcetera at home please. Also, jewelry, cleats, and sharp objects are not allowed on the course. Oh, and no sasquatches allowed either...we don't like yer kind around here.

Are iPods or MP3 players allowed on the course?

Electronics and mud don't mix, we wish they did, how sweet would it be to bask in the mud while listening to your music. So as that this is a MUD Run the nature of the race involves mud and water, which will result in you being tuneless and with a muddy mp3 mess.

Can I bring my camera?

Sure! We will have several photographers and videographers that will be taking your pictures along the way too—so check out your pictures HERE! We also encourage you to upload your pictures and videos on our Facebook Page!

What should I wear?

Leave your little black dress in your closet and your wedding ring at home because you can count on getting wet, dirty, muddy, sandy, foamy, and most importantly, come away happy! Wear something that can handle the mud and the foam and that you are free to move and groove in. If you want to dress up as your favorite super hero, we approve. Get your friends and dress up together.

Are there other activities?

YES, it is a festival after all!! So be sure to come early and bring your friends and family. We've got several activities including our foam pit, inflatable obstacle course and bounce house. We even have activities for the kids at heart! Like our Skyfall, Big Baller, and Wrecking Ball!

Weather?

The race is on—rain or shine! If there are any emergencies in the area we will contact you via email. So please plan on coming unless you hear from us.

Feed Station?

There will be multiple water stations throughout the race—gotta stay hydrated! Also, we will have a delicious spread waiting for you at our feed station at the finish. By delicious spread we mean energy bars and some fruit; did you really think we meant filet mignon? All food is guaranteed not to be muddy, well assuming you haven't gotten mud on it first.

Can I just watch?

Yup! Spectators have no shortage of fun while they watch the runners run through the foam and mud and enjoy the wide variety of festival activities, food vendors and more!

When do I get my free swag?

You will receive your Bib numbers at Bib pickup or at the registration tent on race day. You'll receive your virtual swag bag via your email. An email will get sent out a few days prior to the race as well as one after the race allowing you to access your bag online. Your t-shirt and medal will be given to you at the finish line!

Do I get a free beer?
